One day in my English class, the teacher walked in without wearing a face mask. I was surprised because we were required to wear masks in the classroom to prevent the spread of germs. However, the teacher seemed unfazed and started the class as if nothing was wrong.
As the lesson progressed, I began to feel uncomfortable and worried about my safety. I couldn't focus on the lesson because I kept thinking about the risks of being in a room with someone who wasn't following the safety guidelines. I felt anxious and unsure of what to do.
At that moment, the teacher called on me to answer a question. I hesitated for a moment, not knowing how to respond. Finally, I mustered up the courage to speak and politely asked the teacher if she could put on a face mask for everyone's safety.
To my surprise, the teacher laughed and said she didn't believe in wearing masks because she thought they were unnecessary. She dismissed my concerns and continued with the lesson as if nothing had happened.
I was shocked and disappointed by her response. I couldn't believe that a teacher, someone who was supposed to be a role model for students, would disregard such an important safety measure. I felt frustrated and helpless, not knowing what to do next.
Despite my discomfort, I tried to focus on the lesson and participate as best as I could. But I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease and worry throughout the class. I couldn't wait for the lesson to end so I could leave the classroom and get some fresh air.
After the class was over, I quickly packed up my things and left the classroom, feeling relieved to be out of that environment. I knew that I had to speak up and address the issue with the teacher and possibly with the school administration to ensure that proper safety measures were followed in the future.
Looking back on that day, I realized the importance of speaking up for your own safety and well-being, even if it means confronting someone in a position of authority. It taught me to be assertive and stand up for what I believe in, especially when it comes to matters of health and safety.
